Preacher: Father Abraham

The Armor of God

Objectives of This Lesson

By the end of this lesson:

  1. You will be able to stand firm in these evil days.
  2. You will be able to resist the devil.
  3. You will be an overcomer.
  4. You will walk in victory.

According to Ephesians 6:14, the Armor of God begins with the Belt of Truth, which means that the first weapon in spiritual warfare is truth.

Truth is the first weapon that anchors all the other weapons. It defeats deception and secures all the other pieces of the armor. Truth keeps you grounded in God’s Word because God’s Word is truth.

Spiritually, truth holds your Christian life together and prepares you, as a disciple of Christ, for spiritual warfare.

Just as a soldier would not be ready for battle without his belt, a believer cannot be properly prepared for spiritual warfare without being grounded in truth.

Understanding Truth

1. Truth Begins With Jesus Christ Himself

John 14:6

Wearing the Belt of Truth means remaining in a close relationship with Jesus Christ because He is the Truth.

Truth is not merely a concept; Truth is a person—Jesus Christ. Therefore, our Christian life must be centred on Him.

2. Truth Is God’s Word

John 17:17

As a disciple of Christ, you must build your life on the Word of God and not on emotions, traditions, religion, or popular opinions.

When you make God’s Word the truth and foundation of your life, His Word becomes the standard by which you live.

3. Truth Means Living With Integrity

Psalm 51:6

The Belt of Truth represents humility, consistency, and integrity. These qualities enable a believer to live truthfully.

As a disciple of Christ, you should always speak the truth and live according to the truth. We need to be truthful both privately and publicly.

Our lives should reflect the same person we are in public and in private.

4. Truth Protects Against Satan’s Lies

John 8:44

Our Lord Jesus Christ describes Satan as a liar and the father of lies.

Truth begins with Christ, while spiritual battles often begin with lies and deception. The Belt of Truth enables believers to recognise and reject the lies of the enemy by standing on the truth of God’s Word.

Whenever the enemy presents a lie, the believer must respond with the truth of God’s Word.

5. Truth Brings Spiritual Freedom

John 8:32

It is the truth that makes us free.

A disciple who walks in truth experiences spiritual freedom because they are no longer controlled by deception, falsehood, or the lies of the enemy.

6. Truth Prepares a Disciple for Spiritual Warfare

Believers need to prepare themselves for spiritual battles by grounding their lives in God’s truth.

Without truth:

* Faith becomes unstable.
* Prayer loses confidence.
* Discernment becomes weak.
* The enemy finds it easier to deceive you.

Therefore, before entering spiritual warfare, you must first be grounded in the truth of God’s Word.

7. Truth Produces Spiritual Maturity

Ephesians 4:15

The Apostle Paul makes us understand that believers should speak the truth in love.

Truth is not only about knowing what is right; it is also about growing into spiritual maturity and learning to communicate and live according to God’s truth while walking in love.

Characteristics of Someone Who Lives in Truth

Someone who lives in truth and wears the Belt of Truth will have the following characteristics:

1. A growing love for God’s Word.
2. Honesty and integrity in their words and actions.
3. Stability in times of trials.
4. Freedom from deception.
5. Obedience to Christ.
6. Confidence in spiritual warfare.

Conclusion

The Belt of Truth is not merely about knowing biblical facts.

It is about living under the authority of Christ, believing God’s Word, walking in integrity, and rejecting deception.

Truth must become a lifestyle.

A believer who wears the Belt of Truth is grounded in Christ, established in God’s Word, protected from deception, and equipped to stand against the enemy.

He who wears the Belt of Truth is equipped to stand against the enemy and walk in victory.

Prayer Points

1. Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for revealing Your truth through Your Son, Jesus Christ, and through Your Word.
2. I choose to fasten the Belt of Truth around my life today. From today, I will walk in truth and integrity.
3. O Lord Jesus Christ, expose every lie and deception of the enemy in my heart.
4. O Lord Jesus Christ, fill me with a love for Your Word and help me to walk in obedience and integrity.
