The Shield of Faith
KEY SCRIPTURE: EPHESIANS 6:16
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
INTRODUCTION
Beloved, the Christian life is not a life without battles. It is a life in which we have been equipped to win battles.
Paul reveals in Ephesians 6 that we are engaged in a spiritual conflict. He says:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
This means that not every battle you are facing is natural.
Some battles are spiritual.
Some attacks are designed to weaken your confidence in God.
Some voices are designed to make you doubt what God has spoken.
Some circumstances are designed to make you question whether God is still with you.
But today, I came with a word:
Do not put down your shield!
Your faith is your defense!
Your faith is your spiritual protection!
Your faith is what enables you to stand when everything around you is telling you to fall.
The enemy may release the arrow, but God has given you a shield.
The enemy may attack your mind, but God has given you a shield.
The enemy may attack your family, your finances, your destiny, your health, or your future, but God has given you a shield.
The arrow may be real, but the shield is greater!
WHAT IS THE SHIELD OF FAITH?
The shield of faith represents active confidence and absolute trust in God and in His Word.
Faith is not merely something we talk about in church.
Faith is what we carry into the battle.
Faith is what we use when circumstances contradict God’s promises.
Faith is what keeps you standing when you do not understand what God is doing.
Faith says:
“God has spoken; therefore, I will believe Him regardless of what my circumstances say.”
Hebrews 11:1 says:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith does not need to see everything before it believes.
Faith believes because God has spoken.
You may not see the door yet, but faith says, “God will open it.”
You may not see the provision yet, but faith says, “My God shall supply all my need.”
You may not see the healing yet, but faith says, “God is still my healer.”
You may not see the breakthrough yet, but faith says, “My breakthrough is coming.”
You may not understand the process, but faith says, “I trust the God who is controlling the process.”
THE SIX DIMENSIONS OF THE SHIELD OF FAITH
1. THE DIMENSION OF GOD’S CHARACTER
The first foundation of your faith is knowing who God is.
God does not change.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore.
If God was faithful yesterday, He is faithful today.
If God delivered before, He can deliver again.
If God opened doors before, He can open doors again.
If God performed miracles before, He can perform miracles again.
Your circumstances may change, but God’s character does not change.
When God says yes, no devil can turn it into no.
When God has ordained it, no opposition can cancel it.
When God has approved it, hell cannot veto it!
I came to announce to somebody: what God has spoken concerning your life will come to pass!
You may be surrounded by opposition, but you are not abandoned.
You may be walking through a storm, but the presence of God is still with you.
You may be in a season you do not understand, but the character of God has not changed.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I declare that your confidence in God will not die!
You will not abandon your faith because of what you are going through!
The God who kept you yesterday will keep you today and preserve you tomorrow!
2. THE DIMENSION OF GOD’S PROMISES
Faith must have something to hold on to.
You cannot build strong faith on feelings.
You cannot build strong faith on people’s opinions.
You cannot build strong faith on circumstances.
Faith must be anchored in the Word of God.
God has made promises concerning your life.
And when God makes a promise, He does not need human permission to fulfill it.
He has promised it, and He will do it!
Numbers 23:19 says:
“God is not a man, that he should lie.”
Beloved, when God speaks, heaven stands behind His Word.
The enemy’s assignment is to make you doubt the promise.
But your assignment is to hold up the shield of faith.
When the enemy says, “It will never happen,”
your shield says, “God has spoken!”
When the enemy says, “You are finished,”
your shield says, “God is not finished with me!”
When the enemy says, “There is no way,”
your shield says, “My God will make a way!”
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
Every promise of God concerning your life that is still pending shall receive divine acceleration!
What God has ordained for you shall not be stolen by the enemy!
You will live to see the manifestation of God’s promises in your life!
3. THE DIMENSION OF GOD’S POWER
You must know the power of the God you serve.
There is no power greater than God’s power.
There is no situation bigger than God.
There is no demon stronger than God.
There is no door too difficult for God to open.
There is no mountain too high for God to move.
There is no chain too strong for God to break.
When the enemy shows you his power, show him the power of your God!
The enemy may have weapons, but God has greater weapons.
The enemy may have plans, but God has greater plans.
The enemy may have an agenda, but God has the final authority.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
Every power that has been confronting your destiny is coming under the superior power of God!
Every satanic resistance against your progress is broken!
The power of God is arising on your behalf!
Where your strength ends, may the power of God begin to manifest!
4. THE DIMENSION OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
Faithfulness means that God can be trusted.
God does not make promises that He intends to abandon.
When God says He will do something, His faithfulness guarantees the fulfillment of His Word.
There may be moments when you pray and nothing appears to change.
There may be seasons when you cry and wonder, “God, where are You?”
But silence does not mean absence.
Delay does not mean denial.
The process does not mean God has forgotten you.
God is faithful!
Even when you cannot trace Him, you can trust Him.
Even when you cannot understand Him, you can trust Him.
Even when you cannot see the answer, you can trust Him.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I declare over your life: God will prove His faithfulness!
You will not end in shame!
You will not end in disappointment!
You will not end in defeat!
The God who started the work will complete it!
5. THE DIMENSION OF GOD’S WORD
Your faith must be built on what God has said.
Not on what people say.
Not on what social media says.
Not on what your emotions say.
Not on what your circumstances say.
Your faith must be built on the Word of God.
The Word of God must become the foundation beneath your feet.
When everything around you is shaking, stand on the Word.
When people reject you, stand on the Word.
When circumstances contradict you, stand on the Word.
When the enemy attacks your mind, stand on the Word.
The Word of God is still true!
If God said it, believe it.
If God promised it, hold on to it.
If God declared it, stand upon it.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I declare that your faith will not be controlled by what you see!
The Word of God will become stronger in you than the voice of your circumstances!
Every voice speaking contrary to God’s purpose for your life is silenced!
You will believe God until you see the manifestation!
6. THE DIMENSION OF GOD’S PURPOSE
There is a purpose of God concerning your life.
And what God has purposed, the enemy cannot permanently stop.
There may be opposition.
There may be resistance.
There may be delays.
There may be battles.
But God’s purpose is greater than the resistance against you.
Joseph went through the pit.
Joseph went through slavery.
Joseph went through prison.
But the pit could not destroy the purpose.
The prison could not cancel the purpose.
The betrayal could not cancel the purpose.
What God had ordained for Joseph eventually manifested.
Therefore, do not judge your destiny by your present condition.
Your present situation is not the final chapter.
Your tears are not the final chapter.
Your rejection is not the final chapter.
Your delay is not the final chapter.
God is still writing your story!
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I declare that the purpose of God concerning your life shall prevail!
No satanic agenda will terminate your destiny!
No human opposition will cancel what God has ordained!
You will arrive at the place God designed for you!
FAITH SEES BEYOND THE PROBLEM
Faith does not pretend that problems do not exist.
Faith sees the problem, but faith sees God beyond the problem.
Faith does not say, “There is no storm.”
Faith says, “There is a God who is greater than the storm.”
Faith does not say, “There is no mountain.”
Faith says, “My God can move the mountain.”
Faith does not say, “There is no battle.”
Faith says, “The battle belongs to the Lord.”
Faith looks at the problem through the character of God.
Faith looks at the problem through the promises of God.
Faith looks at the problem through the power of God.
Faith looks at the problem through the faithfulness of God.
Faith looks at the problem through the Word of God.
Faith looks at the problem through the purpose of God.
And when you see your problem through God, your problem loses its ability to intimidate you.
TAKE UP YOUR SHIELD!
Ephesians 6:16 says:
“Above all, taking the shield of faith…”
Notice the Bible says “taking.”
You must take it.
You must carry it.
You must raise it.
You must use it.
A shield that is left on the ground cannot protect a soldier.
Your faith must become active!
When the fiery dart comes, raise your shield!
When fear comes, raise your shield!
When doubt comes, raise your shield!
When discouragement comes, raise your shield!
When the enemy tells you that God has forgotten you, raise your shield!
When your circumstances say it is impossible, raise your shield!
When your feelings tell you to give up, raise your shield!
Because the Bible says that with the shield of faith, you shall be able to quench ALL the fiery darts of the wicked.
Not some.
ALL!
That means every fiery dart has an answer in God.
The dart of fear—faith!
The dart of doubt—faith!
The dart of discouragement—faith!
The dart of confusion—faith!
The dart of rejection—faith!
The dart of hopelessness—faith!
The dart of intimidation—faith!
Raise your shield!
FINAL PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I declare over your life:
Your faith will not fail!
Your confidence in God will not die!
You will not surrender to the voice of the enemy!
You will not abandon your testimony because of temporary circumstances!
Every fiery dart fired against your mind, your family, your destiny, your calling, your finances, and your future is quenched by the shield of faith!
Every attack designed to make you doubt God is broken!
Every voice telling you that you cannot make it is silenced!
You shall stand!
You shall overcome!
You shall prevail!
You shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!
And I declare:
WHAT GOD HAS SPOKEN CONCERNING YOU SHALL COME TO PASS!
WHAT GOD HAS STARTED SHALL BE COMPLETED!
WHAT GOD HAS ORDAINED SHALL NOT BE CANCELLED!
YOUR FAITH WILL OUTLIVE YOUR BATTLE!
YOUR TESTIMONY WILL BE GREATER THAN YOUR TRIAL!
AND YOU WILL STAND AFTER THE STORM!
