THE THREE (3) DIMENSIONS OF SALVATION
Key Scripture: Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
INTRODUCTION
The three dimensions of salvation are some of the most important things that a believer must know and understand.
These dimensions are:
- The Past Dimension of Salvation
- The Present Dimension of Salvation
- The Future Dimension of Salvation
1. THE PAST DIMENSION OF SALVATION
This is the dimension of salvation in which your confession is, “I have been saved.”
It is salvation from the penalty of sin.
Ephesians 2:18 (KJV)
“For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”
This dimension speaks of what Christ has already done for us, giving us access to the Father through Him.
2. THE PRESENT DIMENSION OF SALVATION
Philippians 2:12 (KJV)
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
As the name suggests, this dimension speaks of our ongoing salvation and transformation.
This is the dimension that determines whether you are a disciple of Christ. It maintains the past dimension and gives you hope for the future dimension.
This means that we are continually being transformed into the image of Christ.
3. THE FUTURE DIMENSION OF SALVATION
This is the dimension of salvation in which the confession is, “I will be saved.”
This dimension points to the final destination and completion of salvation when Jesus comes.
Romans 13:11 (KJV)
“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
It is the hope of the future dimension that motivates us to keep working now. This future dimension also sustains us in the present so that we do not despair.
CONCLUSION
In summary:
- The Past Dimension: Christ saved me.
- The Present Dimension: Christ is transforming me.
- The Future Dimension: Christ will ultimately complete His work in me.
